Prelazak u Melbourne je izazvalo zaprepašćenje u Formuli 1, jer je Adelaide bila izuzetno popularna i kao mesto i kao trkačka staza.
Melbourne je postao domaćin Formule 1 1996. godine, kada je preuzeo tu ulogu od Adelaide.

Za vreme održavanja trka u Adelaidi, mogli smo da vidimo dva neverovatna prejokreta u šampionatima, 1986. je Nigelu Mansellu eksplodirala guma i tako ga udaljila od titule, a 1994. godina nakon kontraverznog sudata Schumachera i Hilla, Schumacher je postao šampion. 1996. godine ne samo da se VN Australija preselila u Melbourn na novu satazu Albert Park, nego je dobila i ulogu staze koja otvara novi šampionat, iako je ove godine ona druga trka u sezoni.

Melbourn se ubrzo pokazao dosta zanimljivom stazom, jer je na prvoj trci pol-poziciju ostvario Jacques Villeneuve, kome je to bila prva trka u Formuli 1. Takođe u prvoj trci je Martin Brundle u svom Jordanu izleteo sa staze u trećoj krivinu gde se bolid prepolovio na dva dela, Martin je ostao nepovređen.

Od kada se našla u kalendaru Formule 1, staza Albert Park je nekoliko puta doterivana i njena površina je sa dosat ravnija i ugodnija za vožnju od većine drugih uličnih trka. Sastoji se od 16 krivina, uglavnom sporih i srednje brzih. Preticanja su jako teška iako postoje dva teoretska mesta za to. Uglavnom se promene u plasmanu dešavaju nakon odlazaka u boks ili izlaskm Safety Cara.

Brzi pravci isečeni šikanam i prašnjave površine često dovode do dramatičnih i nepredvidivih trka. Staza Albert Park kažnjava i najmanji vozačku grešku, pogotovo što se veoma blizu staze nalaze betonski zidovi.

Safety Car je postao tradicija na stazi Albert Park…

Here is a first look at the changes being made to the Albert Park circuit to accomodate the faster new-generation 2017 Formula 1 cars.

As exclusively revealed by Motorsport.com, the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne is currently undergoing a number of safety-related revisions in order to deal with the increased speeds expected in 2017.

Based on data provided by the FIA, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation is expecting an increase of mid-corner speeds between 20 and 50 km/h on mid-to-high speed corners, later braking points to the tune of 20 to 30 metres, and lap times lowered by around three to four seconds.

As a result there has been tyre wall re-profiling at Turns 1, 6, and 14, and the addition of a new double negative kerb and $100,000 worth of Tecpro barriers at Turn 12.

The major change at Turn 1 is the doubling of the width of the tyre wall at the very end of the run-off area from three rows to six.

Remarkably, the reinforced area is a massive 108 metres from the end of edge of the circuit across from the apex of Turn 1 to the conveyor belt that holds the tyres in place.

“If you stand here at the tyre wall and look back at the edge of the circuit, it gives you an idea of just how fast the cars are travelling,” explained Craig Moca, Division Manager of Infrastructure at the AGPC.

“The need to reinforce here even with the cars having to travel over the height of the gravel trap, it’s phenomenal.”

There is a 10-metre stretch at Turn 6 that has also been widened from three layers of tyres to six. The sticking point here is two trees that mean the lengthened area of run-off isn’t as wide as it otherwise would be.

“That’s always the challenge of building a circuit in a park,” added Moca. “You have to work around immovable objects, usually trees, and come up with different solutions.”

With a higher chance of a car impacting that area, the tyre wall has been reinforced and the tyres fitted with high-density polyethylene tube inserts.

The brand new Tecpro barrier won’t actually be installed until race week, due to the Albert Park golf course still being in use. What has been installed, however, is a new double negative kerb, which is essentially a second ripple strip to discourage drivers from pushing their luck at 230 km/h and trying to run out onto the concrete.

The expected increase of exit speed at Turn 13 has made Turn 14 a crucial part of the circuit when it comes to reinforcement. The entire barrier has been doubled in width from three to six tyres, every row will be fitted with high-density polyethylene tube inserts, and a brand new conveyor belt has been purchased to keep the whole thing in place.

“We’ve beefed this area up a hell of a lot,” said Moca. “We’ve purchased some new tyres and a brand new conveyor belt, and then there’s the HDPE tubes. It’s a big change compared to before.”

The revised circuit will undergo and inspection from the FIA on the Wednesday before the Australian Grand Prix, with support category practice and qualifying kicking off on Thursday March 23.

Počelo je počelo!
Naisla mi inspiracija za navijačku himnu foruma.. Dobro, većeg dela foruma ako izostavim navijače Mečki ali ipak mislim da će se u njoj pronaći svaki muskarac i navijač formule f1anatik!

Ajde pomozi nam svima Bože
da nam nova sezona neizvesnost donese,
da Raikoneni prestanu da se množe
i da Kimi u penziju jos neku pobedu odnese.

Ajde pomozi nam svima Bože
da Mečkari ne budu opet domino,
da Luis zbog Bundeve iskoči iz kože
da pobedi i ono Italijansko crveno...

Da Reno napokon najlepše zablista
da bude i neka njegova pobednička pista,
da McHonda ne izgleda vise tako žalosno
i da pobedi makar jednom 120% Alonso..

Da RB Mečku stalno pritiska
ako treba da im *ebe sve sa spiska,
da Trandža nova ugrabi opet neku priliku
i da Čiko na podijumu napravi jos neku sliku.

Da cela sezona bude do jaja
i potraje neizvesnost do kraja,
da Seb ostane sa Kimijem još neku godinu
i da smeker koga zovem Ari
crvenima bar jednu titulu podari,
da se siva Masa vise od formule ne oprašta
i da mi se za onu stvar dobro prihvati tašta!
